PBT is a semi-crystalline polyester that stands out among engineering plastics for its electrical insulation performance. Its fast crystallisation allows moulding at short cycle times.
Much lower moisture uptake than polyamides and superior dimensional stability are the main reasons it is preferred for precision electrical parts. Flame retardant and glass fibre reinforced types are widespread.
