In random copolymer polypropylene the ethylene units are distributed randomly along the chain. This structure lowers crystallinity and gives the material clarity and flexibility.
It is preferred in packaging applications where transparency matters and in pipe systems requiring flexibility. It has a lower melting temperature than the homopolymer.
